Brief description of the project:

 

The project represents an initiative for urban environment improvement through energy savings and building of architectural objects which are harmless for both human health and environment, through different aspects: analyzing of current situation in sustainable building construction, strenghtening of population awareness, promotion of sustainable methods in sustainable building construction, ecologic materials and facility, education and equipping, together with providing concrete and useful information to all population interested in it, all related to possibilities and benefits that are achieved by sustainable construction of objects.

 

 

Overall objective of the project is to decrease energy consumption and to improve population's health through positive influence on strenghtening of population and skilled people's awareness in City of Banja Luka, related to sustainable/healthier  ways of building construction and usage of ecologic materials and facilities, and based on principles of sustainable architecture and coordination of social, economic and ecologic aspects.

In addition, the aim of this project is strenghtening capacities of ecological NGOs through associating and networking in order to gather, process and spread useful information related to sustainable architecture as a very important factor of development and sustainability of urban environment based on principles of sustainable development.

 

Project objectives:

 

1. Analyzing of the current situation related to usage of both sustainable/healthier ways of construction and ecologic materials and facility. This objective will directly influence on specifying the problems related to urban environment - energy savings through availability of numerous information

2. Setting a data base - a list of regional producers, contractors, architects, salesmen, expert and scientific organizations whose activity is or can be based on the principles of sustainable architecture. This aim will directly influence connecting of all parties interested, what will provide more possibilities to use ecologic materials and facility, together with application of sustainable ways of construction what will further influence energy savings.

3. Education of local population together with interested representatives of other parties interested (skilled people and organizations, decision-making people) in City of Banja Luka about social, economic and ecologic ways of usage of ecologic materials and construction facility, with an emphasis on environmental impact (ecpecially on energy savings) and influence on human health. This objective will, through advanced knowledge of both population and interested representatives of parties interested (skilled people and organizations, decision-making people), have a direct influence on indication of priorities related to energy savings. Education of individual house-owners is very important because they are investors and users at the same time, and they have power, i.e. money, what gives them possibility to be directly included into the way of their houses' construction through a direct selection of both construction materials and services.

4. Local but also regional spreading of information and promotion of sustainable/healthier way of construction and ecologic materials and facility for construction, through electronic and printed media.  This objective will have a direct influence on showing the problems of urban environment and energy savings to the wide auditorium. The objective is to provide just and competent information about all the aspects of sustainable construction to clients, architects, contractual parties, engineers, producers, users, etc.

· Local population of Banja Luka

· Students of Faculty of architecture and civil engineering and Faculty of Mechanic

· Producers, contractors, competent institution representatives (Associations of architects, for example), architects, scientific institutions representatives (faculties, institutes, secondary school etc), educated representatives of local communities

 

Secondary target group:

 

· Large energy consumers,

· Local government structures

· International governmental and nongovernmental organizations which are active in this region.  

 

Teriary target group 

 

· Population of Bosnia and Herzegovina,

· Population of the whole region particularly via web site, but also via promotional activities.
